The Prosecutor’s Office plays a critical role in the safety, fairness, and well-being of our community. The decisions made by the office affect victims, law enforcement, families, businesses, and every individual in Whatcom County.

My priorities are straightforward: improve public safety, support victims, strengthen partnerships with law enforcement increase accountability and ensure the Prosecutor’s Office operates with professionalism, integrity, and transparency.

These priorities are not political. They are practical. They are focused on restoring public trust, improving outcomes, and getting the Prosecutor’s Office back on track.

Public Safety

Public safety begins with accountability. Violent offender, repeat offenders, and drug dealers must be held accountable while protecting the constitutional rights of every person. That means consistency with charging decisions and outcomes that serve as deterrents for those offenders. I also support evidence-based programs that improve outcomes and reduce recidivism. People suffering from mental health and addiction should have better opportunities to address those issues through additional programs and services that also require accountability. That means strengthening Recovery Court and Mental Health Court and the creation of a Veteran’s Court.

Strengthening the Office

Accountability starts with the Prosecutor’s Office itself. Deputy prosecuting attorneys deserve leadership that puts mentorship and training as a top priority. All employees within the office deserve to work in an environment built on professionalism and reciprocated respect for co-workers. The office should be built on a shared vision to serve and protect the Whatcom County community. This is essential to earning public trust.

Victims First

Victims deserve timely communication, meaningful participation in the process, and a justice system that does not leave them waiting years for resolution. That requires reducing the caseload backlog.

Supporting Law Enforcement

Law enforcement deserves a professional partner that provides timely charging decisions, clear communication and training regarding changes in the law and best practices.

Excellence in Civil Representation

The Prosecutor’s Office serves more than the criminal division. County departments deserve competent legal counsel, sound advice, and responsive service.
